Google scores ‘fresh content’ that’s updated regularly in a different way to a news article that doesn’t change. The search engine optimization (SEO) world has undergone some big changes in the last few years—the biggest being coming in the form of Google’s heightened push towards strong user experiences. Google is the dominant search engine in many countries, but not all of them. How you optimize your website depends heavily on the target market for that site, and the search engines that (are) the most important in that market. You can also use Fetch as Google within the Crawl section of Google Search Console to render your site the way Google sees it on different mobile devices.

It’s time to revolutionize our approach to anchor text

Googlebot uses sitemaps and databases of links discovered during previous crawls to determine where to go next. Whenever the crawler finds new links on a site, it adds them to the list of pages to visit next. If Googlebot finds changes in the links or broken links, it will make a note of that so the index can be updated. Although there are many different "recipes" for gaining search engine rankings, most experts in the search engine optimization (SEO) field will recommend that website content should be a priority. When a website wants a piece of content to be representative of a “thing” – like a profile page, an event page, or a job posting – its code needs to be marked up properly. You have pages and posts on your website, so make the most of them. Internal links are HUGE for link building because you can control everything about them, from the location on the page to the anchor text.

Pick a Keyword to Target

Software programs cannot adequately interpret each of the various types of data that humans can—videos and images, for example, are to a certain extent less readable by a search engine Today, obtaining links is much more than just link building; it’s a part of a content marketing, strategic marketing, public relations and social media effort to get in front of the audiences that matter most. Don't limit your ideas; brainstorm whatever subjects and phrases could lead the kinds of visitors you want to your site. Type them into a spreadsheet. Your brainstorming will "prime the keyword pump." Backlinks are an important part of SEO as they can promote your website. Linking to other websites helps to increase your popularity, reputation and most importantly your Google search ranking. While many backlinks can be useful, some prove to be detrimental to your SEO strategy and leave you out of favour with search engines.

Create better landing pages

If you’ve been producing content in a haphazard manner, hoping and praying that some of it eventually ranks, it’s time to buckle down and commit to a more methodical SEO content strategy for the web. Keyword-based titles help establish page theme and direction for your keywords. Longer URLs tend to look a little more spammy within the search engine results page, and this is amplified if there are a lot of numbers and symbols within them. We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "Stop buying links in an attempt to fool Google and get more low-quality traffic. Write quality content instead, trust humans to find it and have them link to your pages because you are worth it."

Create a client reactivation plan

Which relevant search terms are most popular? Many companies err by assuming a particular term is popular. They put all of their efforts into being number one for a term few people care about—an enormous waste of SEO resources. The type of content you use on a page also matters for indexing. For example, images are indexed differently from text. It is customary to ensure that meaningful images are assigned descriptive “ALT=” text and helpful captions. Image galleries can be challenging, especially when the image owners (often artists or photographers) are reluctant to publish high quality images or visible text on a page. Metadata has become less important in SEO but is crucial to video indexing. Like images, Google can’t read media in the same way it can plain text, so your metadata should describe the video so that it can be read by search engine crawlers. Of all the channels we’ll be discussing, SEO is the one that there is the most misinformation about. Some of it is subtle, but some of it is widely spread and believed by so-called SEO consultants who actually don’t know what they’re doing.
