Google will be looking to see if you have put any time into the content or just put up some content with minimal work. They want to see that you have actually put some effort into putting together something useful to the visitor and that it is good quality content. Think of outreach as a brand awareness campaign for your most authoritative audience. The readability of your content has to do with the simplicity of its language, the lack of grammatical or syntactical errors, and the sentence structure. Online readability tests allow you to learn the “reading age” someone needs to understand your content. Try to ask questions in the headers of your copy. Because more and more people are typing in whole questions when using search engines, these websites are going to be looking for content with those same questions – and the assumed answers within.

Most CMSs can create one automatically for you, and let you choose to remove certain pages. It's not actually that difficult to get on page 1 of Google in a search (but that depends on the search!) You need to know your market and you need to have a good understanding of SEO and how to use keywords.
