Your content can target any audience, but if it doesn’t sufficiently deliver the information that audience is seeking, you’re out of luck. Not all links are equal, as high-authority sites contribute more heavily in this regard. This means you should aim for more reputable mentions – but without snubbing any lesser sites that might link to you, as it all adds up. It’s easier for a source to link to your content if it’s authentic, interesting and well-researched, so always aim for quality over quantity. In establishing domain names, you may come across articles, which may suggest not to make use of hyphens on them. You should become aware though that using hyphens on your domain name is not a bad practice. However, you should know that most people these days, are not used to typing domain names on their browsers that come with hyphens. A search result with a high CTR can often be given a boost by Google because it’s seen as attractive and relevant. You can increase your CTR by giving your page a custom meta description. This can be done from the page’s HTML or if you’re using WordPress, you could use a plugin like Yoast SEO to do this.

Review your content creation plans and make adjustments

The biggest and most obvious “no-no” is the buying of links. You should never pay for a link. Ever. These are old “black hat” link building tactics that were common in the past, but are now an immediate sign of trouble on the horizon. There are various ranking factors that influence whether a website appears higher on the SERP based on the content relevance to the search term, or the quality of backlinks pointing to the page. Creating descriptive categories and filenames for the documents on your website can not only help you keep your site better organized, but it could also lead to better crawling of your documents by search engines. Also, it can create easier, "friendlier" URLs for those that want to link to your content. You don't necessarily need a large social media presence, just an active one. The more you engage with the local community by responding to comments and questions, the more your Facebook, Google+, Twitter and other social profiles are likely to appear in local searches.

Use quotes to locate a specific phrase

Google regularly refreshes its search engine algorithms. These are called “Google updates.” These updates improve search results by gradually optimizing the specifications for website quality and relevance. At the same time, they counter web spam. Create a website that people love! Search engines were created to measure different signals across the Web so they could find out which websites people like most. Play right into their hands by making those signals real and not artificial! A breadcrumb is a row of internal links at the top or bottom of the page that allows visitors to quickly navigate back to a previous section or the root page. Many breadcrumbs have the most general page (usually the root page) as the first, left-most link and list the more specific sections out to the right. Paid links are another no-no, whether another site linking to yours, or on your site linking to another site (except for banner ads and ad networks like AdSense).

Make sure a byline with your name appears on every page of your content

Customized information will make sure your brand is memorable and distinct from all your ho-hum competitors. SEO and content marketing are two different processes. You could describe the main difference like this: SEO is narrow and technical, while content marketing is broad and holistic. Links with longevity suggests that your site is an established voice for whatever topic it covers. Gaz Hall, an SEO Expert from the UK, said: "Google has been focused on semantic search and now uses something called Latent-Semantic Indexing (LSI) in its core Hummingbird engine."

Focus on topics instead of keywords

Click through rate is a good indicator of whether you’re attracting the right or wrong website visitors and if your website content is what your website visitors are looking for. If you’re attracting the wrong audience or your webpage content isn’t interesting, relevant or useful to the audience, your CTR will be low. The searches that people make online are related to certain words or phrases. Because you want your webpage to be the answer or solution to their search query, your page needs to be built with this phrase or word in mind. A social media following shows that the website has an audience who want to hear more. The website you are targeting would want to share their new posts to their audience on social media, promoting your website at the same time. What’s more is that if you’re in the same niche as the website, their audience are more likely to enjoy your content and start following you too. If you want to link to somebody but you don’t want it to count as a vote (you don’t want to pass link-juice), or you support user-generated content and want to deter spammers, you can use a nofollow link. Google says it discounts the value of those links. I’m not convinced they discount them heavily, but other SEOs are so they seem to deter spammers if nothing else.
